Borehole waterwell in Gambia

Salaam everyone and thank you Waled for launching this years Revolution Love Luton Runfest 2023.

Once again YMO Trust are honoured to be the headline sponsors for this great community event. I echo Waled’s thoughts as this is a great opportunity to bring our local community together, inspire and showcase our spirit. It has been a privilege for YMO to be part of this community and your generosity in raising funds for worthy causes in Bangladesh over the last few years has been greatly appreciated. This has allowed us to provide food to orphans and educate underprivileged children and also give life skills to adults.

This year YMO team have identified a great need for clean and safe water in Gambia.

Many remote villages in Gambia do not have reliable access to clean and safe water.

According to UNICEF 43% of water consumed by the population of Gambia is contaminated. This puts these communities at considerable risk from water borne diseases, on top of dehydration, leading to many lost lives.

Borehole’s can provide a reliable source of clean and safe water. This basic human necessity provides a platform with long term benefits to the local population, farmland and animals. Access to safe and clean water for drinking, helps eradicate the risk of contracting water-borne disease. This empowers these communities to flourish, developing irrigation, farming capabilities and safe, healthy eating.

YMO's vision is to provide 20 Boreholes in various deprived villages in and around the capital of Banjul, identified by our team on the ground, which are in urgent need of clean water.

These 20 boreholes will provide water to over 17,000 villagers, their animals and farmland.

YMO’s long term vision is to enable and empower the villagers to shape their futures through education and life skills. We will replicate our model of Education and Life skills that YMO have been providing successfully to children and adults in Bangladesh since 2013.

Please help us to fundraise for Gambia Water Aid Project to provide clean and safe water to thousands of villagers.
